On another note, I observed Mika developing some new awareness during her mouvement lessons: she really took her time to study a busy plastic toy in all its pieces and mechanism, stuck her tong out, showed more flexibility with her "shhh be quiet, ok?" phrase and seemingly enjoyed trying variations of her favored phrase/words with her practitioner, and expressed her wants more clearly to someone else than me! Additionally, after a lesson where she had spent some time in front of a mirror, she walked in front of another mirror and took a long pause to looked at herself, like it was the first time she really saw herself. I was delighted to see her develop further her sense of self.
My hesitations about what I though were divergences between SonRise and ABM have dissipated. I really embrace their variations and their complimentary aspects! I'm still learning to internalize my enthusiasm so I don't distract Mika from her own experience when she does something new. I'm delighting, not making her jump with my energetic enthusiasm! In regards to the language piece that had me confused, I believe that when Anat Baniel suggest "to let go of the goal of language", she suggests to want without need, to be excited, delighted and going for our dreams and goals for our child without attachment, which Son-Rise is all about! In conclusion, between ABM intensive weeks, the essentials of the method can be maintained by running our Son-Rise program: SonRise allows for the essentials of the Anat Baniel Method to last all day long!
